Global Physical Activity Levels from WHO June 2024

Key Findings

  • 31% of adults globally were not meeting WHO recommendations for physical activity in 2022.

  • Women are more likely to be inactive than men.

  • Eastern Mediterranean and South-East Asia Regions have the highest levels of physical inactivity.

  • Globally, physical inactivity levels are increasing.

Key Recommendations

  • Increase investment in public health programs that promote physical activity.

  • Create safe and supportive environments for physical activity.

  • Make physical activity more affordable and accessible.

  • Address the social and cultural factors that contribute to physical inactivity.

Call to Action

Physical inactivity is a major public health problem, but it is preventable. We can all take steps to increase our physical activity levels and improve our health.

  • Hydration brand Cadence secured a distribution deal with Soho House & Co.

  • HYROX announced GoodLife Fitness as the title sponsor for HYROX Toronto and added a second event date.

  • On Running appointed Zendaya as its brand ambassador and planned product collaborations.

  • F45 Training and David Beckham settled a stock compensation lawsuit.
